AAIP Dedicated Health Care Pathway: 2026 Alberta Guide

Sharp Canadian city skyline representing immigration services in Canada

Alberta’s Dedicated Health Care Pathway is designed for qualified health-care professionals with an Alberta job offer in an eligible health-care occupation. It currently has both Express Entry and non-Express Entry options, making it particularly important to compare federal eligibility with Alberta-specific requirements.

Two pathway options

Alberta identifies both Express Entry and non-Express Entry options under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway. The applicant should determine which option fits their federal eligibility, Alberta employment and immigration status.

An Alberta health-care job offer is central

The pathway is built around an eligible health-care profession and a qualifying Alberta job offer. Occupational licensing or registration should be addressed where the profession requires it.

Express Entry option

Applicants using the Express Entry option also need to meet the relevant federal Express Entry requirements and maintain an active profile. A provincial pathway does not replace federal eligibility.

Non-Express Entry option

The non-Express Entry route can be important for eligible health-care workers who fit Alberta’s health pathway but do not use the federal Express Entry system in the same way. The provincial and later federal stages should be distinguished.

Selection and timing

AAIP uses an invitation-based worker process and publishes processing/allocation information. Job status, work authorization, registration and employer documents should be kept current while waiting.
